Flower Delivery in Calgary Amidst COVID-19

It’s not easy to self-isolate — we’re social animals. We want to get out and make connections, human connections, to reassure ourselves that we’ll get through these tough times.

Small Flower {floral studio} is not just a business, it is Elli's life passion, She is not just a florist, an artist, a creative… she’s is the essence…Elli is the conduit that brings life and texture and joy into so many lives on a regular basis. This is the reason Small Flower has choice to continue to s even though these challenging. With determination and the grit that it takes to have a business survive through many challenges we are more determined than ever to continue to offer our light, joy, hope and beauty through flowers, as we know they are needed now more than ever. This has always been Elli's mandate but now it has becomes crystal clear. It is with this hope for all that Small Flower {floral studio} will continue to do what we do best to reach out and "touch" as many lives as possible despite the community self-isolation. During a time when we are being called ( for the greater good ) to physically distance Elli continues to believes in the power of one small flower to reach and deeply touch the lives of the people you so long to be with, to impact and show your love and concern to.

For everyone’s safety as we move through this pandemic together:

Floral Delivery

Until further notice, all floral deliveries will be “drop at the door” with a call to the recipient’s phone number. There may be a ring of the doorbell, although even that little button can be a point of contact that the drivers will want to avoid. We apologize that we will not be hand-delivering at this time, but for the safety of the recipient and the drivers, and all those that they would come into contact, we are limiting contact with recipients.

Pick Up Option

We’ve always had the ability to “Pick Up” your flowers at our studio, when ordering over the phone or online. We will make contact with you to arrange the time and have your flowers ready and waiting for you with a contact-free pick up area. Your flowers will be labeled and waiting at the bottom of our stairway.

New Studio Hours of Operation

Because of the COVID-19 global crisis, the business is also impacted in a number of other aspects. First, Elli had to make the heartbreaking decision to temporarily lay off her much-loved staff. This means that the studio will operate in reduced hours. The new studio hours are:

Monday: 9am – 4pm

Tuesday: 9am – 4pm

Wednesday: 9am – 4pm

Thursday: 9am – 4pm

Friday: 9am – 4pm

Saturday: 9-12

Sunday: Closed and all Statutory holiday.

As always our online store front is available 24/7, so please take advantage of this option at any point. With only one person in the studio we ask for your patience. If you can reach us by phone please use our website and if you are still uncertain how best to proceed please send us an email and we will get back to you at our earliest convince. One person is wearing several hats at this time so thinks may just take a little longer than usual. Just know you will alway be our #one priority and you matter!

And because life goes on, and so does love, brides are continuing to plan their weddings for later fall in the 2020 or looking ahead to 2021. Small Flower (and Elli) are still doing wedding consultations, but for the time being all consultations will be done by phone or video call. You can begin the process by filling our our inquiry form and Elli will be in touch to set up a time to discuss your wedding details. For our brides that are ready to embrace the reality of our summer of 2020 and still want to move forward with your commitment to marriage and love please know that elopements and small intimate gatherings have a very special place in our hearts and we would love to work with you to make your dream wedding happen.

Floral Availability

While we have long been a “local first” florist to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible, these times have made the availability of some flowers “uncertain” due to import and economic changes.

We source our flowers when possible first through our beloved local growers, local suppliers, and then lastly, if the need arises, through global suppliers

There may not be as much diversity in the flowers that we’ll be using for the next few months, however, they will be the freshest that are available. This is why you’ll find the options available, to order online, limited to “designer’s choice” — we are unable to keep the fridge as fully stocked with the normal selection until imports become available again.

We will do everything in our power to provide you with the best flowers nature can offer but ask that you give us permission to work with what we have available and offer us some grace during this uncertain time.

We’re Here With You

It’s a trying time — if you’re younger or older, living alone or in a place where you can't find a room that is silent. Whether you are home with kids, or still working in an essential service, none of us is unaffected by these changes. I think we can all agree that the impact is intense.

Hold on to hope and know that we are all in this together, and we’ll all get through this challenge together. Remember that while we’re keeping our physical distance from one another, that once isolation is no longer required, that we’ll enjoy our connections that much more. A hugfest is in our future!!
