What to Expect When Ordering from Small Flower

Small Flower specializes in seasonal, specialty blooms chosen for beauty, movement, and uniqueness—not maximum longevity.

Our arrangements are designed to feel fresh-from-the-garden, natural, and expressive. Every bouquet is one of a kind, created with flowers that are often delicate, unusual, and not typically found in grocery stores. Because of this, vase life will vary depending on the flowers used.

Flowers are fleeting by nature. We believe their impermanence is part of what makes them meaningful.

Studio Information

Where is your Studio located? 

Our studio is located in the Vista Heights community. Visits are welcome by appointment, as we are not always on-site.

Monday–Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Ordering Flowers

How do I place an order?

Ordering online is easy. Browse our Daily Flower Menu, Wedding Menu, Floral Subscriptions, Workshops, or Plants, add your selections to your cart, and choose delivery or studio pickup at checkout. 

Do the Daily flower designs change? 

Yes—constantly.

Our designs evolve with the seasons and with flower availability. We also create special holiday menus for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, Administrative Professionals Week, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

How many stems are in each bouquet or arrangement? 

We do not specify stem counts—and this is intentional.

Flower pricing varies widely by season and variety, making fixed stem counts impractical. Instead, we price by value and design, creating lush arrangements in our signature garden style.

As a reference:

  • A mini bouquet may range from a single specialty stem to a few blooms

  • Classic ($85+) is our most common selection

  • Deluxe ($115+) offers increased fullness and premium blooms

  • Opulent ($150+) is our most abundant and luxurious option

Our average customer spend is approximately $120.

What is the difference between Classic, Deluxe and Opulent?

 Our pricing reflects value and design—not size alone.

Different flowers create volume differently. Roses fill space quickly, while delicate blooms like sweet peas offer elegance in a lighter form. Seasonal pricing also affects scale.

If size is your top priority, note this at checkout. Otherwise, trust our designers to create something beautiful within your selected range. If vase life is your priority, let us know this as well and we will intentionally use long-lasting blooms.  Just be aware that the varieties will be limited.

Can I make special requests?

Yes, with some flexibility.
Small Flower’s arrangements are all one of a kind and subject to flower availability and seasonality. While we can take requests for certain colour palettes, we reserve the right to substitute as needed. This means we cannot guarantee any specific flowers or colours. Please use the "notes to florist" section when placing your order to share requests, allergies, or preferences.

Flower Care & Vase Life

How long will my flowers last?

 

Short answer: it depends on the flowers—and specialty flowers are not designed to last weeks.

Grocery store bouquets are created almost entirely for longevity and typically use very hardy varieties such as carnations, chrysanthemums, daisies, and alstroemeria. These flowers can last three to four weeks.

Our flowers are simply not the same flowers.

We work with seasonal, specialty blooms such as garden roses, hellebore, and other varieties chosen for movement, texture, and beauty—not durability alone. These flowers offer a more elevated, natural aesthetic but can have a shorter vase life.

If longevity alone is your priority, flower options become quite limited. At Small Flower, we intentionally choose expressive blooms that reflect the fleeting beauty of nature, and the beauty of this present moment.

With proper care, our arrangements typically last 3–7 days, sometimes longer, depending on the flowers used.

The best way to care for your flowers is to keep them in fresh, cool water away from direct sunlight or any heat source. We've done a few experiments to see what keeps flowers fresh, and time after time, replacing vase water daily is the trick that keeps our flowers looking their very best longer. Certain varieties of flowers last longer than others, but with proper care, our cut flowers and arrangements can last 3-7 days, sometimes even longer!  

In many ways, comparing grocery store bouquets to specialty floral designs is less about apples to apples and more like apples to pears—both beautiful, but offering entirely different experiences.

Do you use floral food?

No—and this is intentional.

After years of experimentation and research, we found that fresh water and a clean cut consistently outperform floral food. For best results, change the water daily or every other day and trim stems with a sharp, clean cut.

What is your flower guarantee?

We guarantee our flowers for three days from the time of delivery.

Because all flower lifespans vary naturally, we are unable to extend guarantees beyond this window.

Delivery & Pickup

Do you Deliver?

Yes. We deliver Monday–Saturday throughout Calgary and surrounding areas, as well as Edmonton and Red Deer.

What does delivery cost?

  • Calgary city limits: $15

  • Rush (3-hour) delivery: $35 within city limits

  • Outlying areas: pricing varies by distance

Delivery fees are calculated automatically when you use the dropbox at checkout

 

What time will my flowers arrive?

Standard delivery occurs between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm, with most deliveries completed by 6:00 pm. Exact delivery times cannot be guaranteed.

Rush delivery may be available for an additional fee.

 

Do you offer same-day delivery?

Yes. Same-day delivery cut-off times:

  • Weekdays: 12:00 pm

  • Saturdays: 10:00 am

If you miss the cutoff, please call us and we’ll do our best to help.

 

Can I pick up my flowers?

Yes. Studio pickup is free. Please check the pick up option at checkout and let us tell us know an approximate time of your arrival or contact us in advance to confirm timing.

 

Can I track the status of my delivery?

Yes. Once your flowers are with our trusted delivery partner, Deeleeo, you'll receive an email notification including a tracking link to monitor your order in real-time.

Payments, Returns & Changes

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), e-transfer, debit, and cash in studio.

 

Do you have a return policy?

Can I cancel or modify my order?

Orders may be cancelled or modified up to 24 hours before delivery or pickup. Please call us at 403-245-5543 or email us directly at flowers@smallflower.ca. Read more about our Refund Policy Here

Weddings + Events 

Do you do flowers for weddings? 

Yes! We have two services: our a la carte wedding menu and full-service floral design. Our a la carte menu has a curated selection of items for you to choose from. This option has no minimums and is available only for Calgary deliveries, a la carte FAQ.  Our full-service option is for those looking for a more comprehensive and customized design proposal - including ceremony design, installation work and custom arrangements with full service set up and design work. How to get started? 

Use our Wedding Budget calculator to see what you may expect to spend if you want to work with us.  

Fill out our Wedding Inquiry form and let us know who you are and the things that light you up. We will contact you to discuss the details of your beautiful day.  

(Our florists will travel to you! We offer full-service floral design for worldwide events starting at $18,000.) 

How far in advance should I place my flower order for my upcoming birthday, baby shower, wedding shower, etc.? 

The earlier, the better! If you know you have a special event coming up, please place your order at least 3 weeks in advance. This gives us time to source any extra unique blooms you've requested and coordinate delivery times with our drivers so your blooms arrive picture-perfect. 

Do you do workshops? 

Yes! We love hosting workshops where we teach flower arranging, flower crown making, wreath making and even more! Sign up for our newsletter to stay current on when they are scheduled. Flower Subscriptions 

Do you do flower subscriptions? 

Yes! You can sign up for a recurring flower order weekly, biweekly, monthly or quarterly to celebrate the glory of each season. Pick between our cut bouquets or arrangements, or choose a plant subscription.  You can have your order delivered or come in and pick it up. We may be biased, but we think a flower subscription may be the best gift you can give or receive - or sign yourself up for weekly flowers to brighten your home or office.  Make sure to use the discount code offered to all floral subscriptions at checkout, it's are small way of saying thank you for being part of our Small Flower family.

Are there any perks to your flower subscription services? 

Our Small Flower Club flower subscription makes it easy to receive beautiful flowers on the regular at a discount (15% off when ordering +4)! We offer convenient delivery and pickup options, and subscribers qualify for 10% off ALL additional purchases, including additional flowers or gifts for yourself or when sending them to others. Plus, you're the first to know about any special events or promotions we plan! 

How can I make changes to my subscription? 

Please make an account when you are starting a Floral Subscription; it makes the process so much easier, and although it is an extra step, it allows you to have control of any changes you need to make 

 

Login to your online account, where you can find all your subscription info in one place. Make any changes needed on your subscriptions page. You can change the date, skip your next subscription, or cancel. Please make changes at least 48 hours in advance; if later than 48 hours please call us directly at 403.245.5543

Do you offer discounts? 

Our Small Flower Club subscribers (see above) receive a 15% off on their subscription order and a 10% discount on all other purchases.  We will provide you with a discount code that you need to use on all future orders ( or remind us that you have a subscription, and we will be sure to apply your discount for you). At the time of placing your order, you must apply the appropriate discount code at checkout for the discount to be applied.

Other FAQs 

Where do you get your flowers? 

During Calgary’s short but ever-so-sweet summer months, we buy as much of our product as possible from our local Alberta and BC growers; we have also built a strong relationship with a handful of local wholesalers and purchase directly from Holland throughout the year.  

Can I order a Doz roses? Or an Arrangement of Peonies?

Small Flower {floral studio} creates bouquets and arrangements in our signature "garden style," using an elegant variety of the best seasonal flowers available. Using a wide range of flowers allows our designers' the freedom to create bespoke arrangements that are as fresh as can be. For those who like single mono-flower designs, we do offer Doz Roses. Occasionally, we offer unique seasonal products that celebrate our favourite flowers — like romantic roses for Valentine's Day or big bunches of Peony or Lilac in the spring! Do you want to build a bouquet filled with your favourite flowers? There is a section with all of our designs where you are invited to leave special "notes to the designer" and we will do what we can to fill your order to your request when possible but can not always guarantee specific varieties or colours.  We would love for you to come to visit so you can pick up your flowers as well; we ask you to call in advance to make sure we are in the studio when you plan to visit.  Call 403.245.5543 to see what's in the cooler and build your dream bouquet!
